The versatile Forest Bird Nester and Feeder is constructed from durable solid Cedar, Alder and Hazel, all certified FSC timber from well-managed forests. The Forest Bird Nester is easy to install and can be left out all year round due to its durable timber construction.
This Nester has several options to suit many species of nesting garden birds. The metal hole protector is suitable for Blue Tits, Marsh Tits, Coal Tits or Wrens. However, if you would like to attract Great Tits and Sparrows, you can remove the metal hole protector to reveal a more prominent entrance hole ideal for these species.
If you prefer to open an open nester suitable for Robins, Wagtails and Spotted Flycatchers, you can remove the entire front panel (attached with two screws) to create an open-fronted box. Alternatively, when the front panel is removed, it can be used as a bird feeder.
The nest box should be sited on a tree, wall or garden fitting at least 1.5m – 2.5m above the ground, preferably in a place where cats and predators cannot access it. The ideal aspect is facing east; SE and NE are also acceptable. The box should be left empty as wild birds bring their nest material into it.
